eMarketing FAQ’s

Here is a list of some of the common questions we receive when engaging with you our customers and prospects.

  1. What do you guys do exactly?
  2.

We are advertising and Marketing Consultants who create a customised plan of action for your business to strategically place you at the points online where your ideal customers are located. Just as with traditional marketing, Internet Marketing (also referred to as eMarketing) is about connecting buyers and sellers at a common marketplace (in this case the Internet.)

  3. Do you offer web design?
  4.

Yes we do and we have excellent designers and programmers who use the best website management systems available today that ensure your website is easy to manage yourself and is easily indexed by search engines. This is the key difference about dealing with an eMarketing Web Designer vs. just a Designer, there is a more important overall strategy guiding the design.

  5. Does eMarketing Really Work?
  6.

It’s the unprofessional work of some so-called eMarketing service providing companies that has raised this question. This not only has put eMarketing in the wrong light, but also damaged the reputation of good eMarketing service providers. There’s no denying the fact that many techniques actually run counter to the regulations and ethics of online marketing and in turn damage the brand of a company. But if done properly, eMarketing has proved to be a very effective method for marketing businesses.

  7. What marketing options are available through the internet?
  8.

You can market your business and company website through E-Mail, search engines, eCRM, other websites, affiliate networks, videos, blogs, social networks and banner advertising to name a few.

  9. What is SEO?
  10.

This is an acronym for Search Engine Optimisation, which is the process of optimising your website and online reputation so as to get high rankings in the free search engine listings. Returns for this method of optimising are greater than SEM but SEO typically takes between 3-6 months for results to be seen.

  11. What is SEM?
  12.

SEM stands for search engine marketing and is not the same process as SEO. SEM is using paid search engine listings to get your advert displayed on search engines. The most popular system for this online is the Google Adwords system where you pay a cost per click for each targeted visitor to your website. This is a very powerful advertising tool when done correctly and offers short term excellent results.

  13. What are Conversion Studies?
  14.

Conversion studies is the process we go through to see opportunities within your website and business model to convert more of your online visitors into customers. For example let us use the simple case of a business selling a how-to book online. If their website receives 100 visitors a month and sells just one of these books their conversion rate is just 1%. A conversion study could be implemented to see opportunities available to increase this conversion and ultimately returns for the business.

  15. Why do so many websites fail?
  16.

The simple answer is lack of a clear strategy and target market profile. The internet is a huge space to navigate and if you dont have a clear actionable strategy in place you will be defeated by the companies who do. We will help you through this step by step to bring your business to the 4Front.

  17. How do search engine listings compare to banner ads etc?
  18.

Search engine listings are known to be the most effective form of eMarketing, with online consumers 12 times more likely to purchase your products or services after finding your website through a search engine.

Nevertheless, you should not ignore the effectiveness of other media. It takes 6-8 impressions of your company brand to create brand recall in the mind of your prospective customers. Your long-term marketing strategy will be most effective through integration of a mix of marketing tools.

  19. What about companies who claim to Submit your Website to Over 2500 Search Engines?
  20.

Paying money for such a service , can not only be a waste of money, but they can actually hurt your rankings. Google are known to penalise people who use multiple/batch search engine submissions, and the majority of these submitting companies are simply individuals who have purchased an automated website submission software. The fact is is that site optimisation can improve your ranking but submitting an un-optimised web site just doesn’t work.

  21. What is Google’s PageRank?
  22.

PageRank is a measurement of an individual page’s value. Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. Additionally, Google look at the value/Pagerank of the site from whom the link to your site comes. If for example, the BBC link to your site, this will be more valuable than Joe Bloggs. Also the relevancy of the link into your site, in comparison to the appropriateness to your own site. Important, high-quality sites receive a higher PageRank, which Google remembers each time it conducts a search. Google uses sophisticated text-matching techniques to find pages that are both important and relevant to your search. Google goes far beyond the number of times a term appears on a page and examines all aspects of the page’s content (and the content of the pages linking to it) to determine if it’s a good match for your query.

  23. What about Meta-Tags?
  24.

Search Engines still analyse title tags, image tags, meta descriptions, link structure, directory structure, keyword density, relevancy, prominence, and proximity. Total number of words on the web-page, word repetitions, total words in certain areas on the page, alt tags, input tags, javascript, comment lines, domain name, directory name, filename, all also matter. Google are considered to use over 100 consideration in their search engine algorithm. However Meta keyword tags DO not need to be set but Title tags and other issues mentioned must be given a lot of attention. Contact us if you need more clarification.
